November be good to me!

I never posted properly about nor did I have a camera to record events but I did go and see Shearwater under the direction of Stephanie in Boston and was accompanied by Stephanie from Brighton and Missy.

We met in Kilburn and we heard music there, good music and for the second time in 6 days for a moment through sound I was lifted out of myself for the merest of time.

No, it wasn't drug induced nor alcohol induced, I found that music live has this unique power to lift you out of yourself emotionally and perhaps that is the high that people get from live music that you can't get from a CD or a TV performance. With the football it was 45,000 people singing one song, at the gig it was certain sounds from the instruments and the verve and energy of the performance that got me.

I need October to end and for November to start for hopefully that will bring a much needed and waited for cheque and hopefully news of a job that will keep me off the streets for a few months and line my pockets.

Of Creepy Hotels

I'm somewhat behind in the chronolgy of events that have passed and events that have just passed.

With that in mind lets continue with my trip to Liverpool on the weekend of the 14th - 15th October.

Other than the football I stayed in Liverpool overnight and also went to the Tate Gallery there, I didn't have time to see anything related to some boy band from the sixties who apparently were very big in their day.
I forget what they were called but they recorded many albums and were very popular. I think they were called some strange name like the 'The Beatles'. Has anybody heard of them?! ;)

The city itself is undergoing regeneration and so there are many cranes across the skyline and roads closed and buildings boarded awaiting demolition. It would have good to have had somebody with local knowledge to show us around on Saturday night maybe next time.

The hotel we stayed in was a grand old thing which in its heyday was considered to be a palace, my room was M7. So it wasn't on the ground floor nor was it on the first floor but somewhere in between. This meant taking the lift to the first floor and then walking down corridors to a staircase to the 'M' floor.

Please see pictures as to why the film 'The Shining' occurred to me walking down the corridors.

'You'll Never Walk Alone'

I sent my money off at the end of August for a fancard for Liverpool Football Club, what this card lets me do is buy tickets if and when they are available for Liverpool home games and certain Away games.

I think this is the third football (soccer) match I've been to this year but the first where I went not as a neutral but as a fan and supporter of the home team.

I had been to Anfield once as a boy but not since and had been saying that I would like to but i think it was a nurse during my last stay at the hospital who said she would go to games with her sister that finally made me do something about it and was it worth it?

A resounding yes from me and it's true what players say in their interviews about playing at Anfield for the first time. Well, I wasn't playing but before the start of each game the club plays 'You'll Never Walk Again' and imagine 42,000 people singing along. It really does make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. (The songs origins are from a musical and numerous versions have been recorded in the U.S but it was a recording by Liverpool band Gerry and The Pacemakers in the U.K that saw it become adopted by the fans of Liverpool Football Club perhaps like the origins of 'Tessie' being adopted by the Boston Red Sox)

The match itself was against Blackburn Rovers and resulted in a draw, 1-1. Liverpool huffed and puffed but couldn't get the victory which was a real shame. Players that particulary impressed me were Xabi Alonso (if I get a replica shirt, his name and number are going on there), Sami Hyppia, Jamie Carragher and Peter Crouch (except for his finishing). I'm sure Stevie Gerrard can play better than he did but he was still good, the same for Riise and Pennant. Then there were the players who disappeared like Bellamy and Finnan and Aurelio who I am convinced was sleepwalking! Liverpool weren't as potent as I had hoped and the jigsaw is still not right but I have faith in Rafa.

Would I like to go again? Absolutely.

Pictures to follow...

How am I? What am I up to?

I get these emails from friends from around the place every now and then updating me of their lives and while most know i've had a pretty extraordinary year, I'm still not sure what to tell them. I should have a template or two ready.

a) I'm doing good getting stronger and am glad to hear you're doing so well. I'm well on the way to getting my health back and looking forward to getting back into working again.

or

b) I have mini crises of confidence and feel lost and am not so sure where I'm going or what direction my life is taking me. Once I had been so sure of what it is and where it was I was going but now I'm really not so sure. Oh by the way congratulations on everything and its great to hear how you're doing.

Both are truthful but I would say (b) is the more truthful or does it seem like I'm asking for sympathy?

or

c) Everything is super here and everything is falling into place now, it's great to hear that you're doing so well.

I think it depends on my mood and I will sleep on such emails before replying.

Does anybody else have stock answers?

Attempts

I have been using my time to try and create artwork of varying quality and style for an open exhibition. I feel some look decidely amateurish whilst others point to other possibilities.

There is deadline for submission and so i paint and wait for paint to dry and then paint again.

In between which I managed to attend a seminar about computer design products and catch up with some faces from the past.

And got asked by a pretty, heavily pregnant friend 'If I had a girlfriend' and when I replied in the ngative, she seemed confused by my answer telling that there are so many single girls in London.

I guess what i'm saying in my convoluted way is that its kind of flattering that a pretty woman wonders why you are single, if that makes any sort of sense.

Right off to stick my head back up my own A**hole as I go back into 'artist' mode! ;)
