The Good, The Bad and The You What?
Another call to my Blog readers this time for cover versions of songs that are good, bad or just plain disasterous.
e.g. Johnny Cash - 'One' is a good cover of U2.

White Stripes - "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself." I don't know who sang it originally, but it was a Burt Baccarach song, and I don't think he wrote it for them in mind.
I am drawing a blank right now...I'll be back if/when I can think. Happy week, fb.
Erggghh, didn't the All Saints do a cover of the Peppers' *Under the Bridge*? That was terrible!
Or Westlife ripping off Sarah Mclachlan's *Angel*? Actually Westlife ripping off anything is pretty much grounds for them to be forcibly removed from any musical arena for the rest of their lives...
iron & wine did a good cover of "such great heights" by the postal service.
and i like the get up kids version of that pixies song... alex eiffel? erm?
Can't think, too... just got back from Edinburgh and straight to work! x
I have the same musical knowledge as I do on other cultural stuff like film. Nothing.
Okay - one I absolutely hate is Sarah McLachlan's cover of "Ol' 55" I like her, but I hate hate hate that cover.
Love 16 Horsepower's take on "Sinnerman" - way to make it your own, guys.
Hate Joss Stone's "Fell in Love with a Boy".
LOVE the White Stripes "Jolene."
Forgot to mention that my suggestion is a good suggestion. I much prefer the Stripes arrangements to anything Burt would do.
Good: Soft Cell's cover of "Tainted Love"
Bad: Madonna's cover of "American Pie"
Disasterous: I'm working on it.. :)
Good: We have all the time in the world cover by the Bloody Valentine. I am listening to it now it's beautiful. And i remember the original was in the cd you sent me.
Hmmmm
Bad cover: I'm a Believer by Smashmouth, originally by the Monkees.
Good cover: Feeling Good by Michael Buble, originally Nina Simone, if I'm not mistaken...
and since I mentioned her...Lilac Wine (jeff Buckley version) - great cover...
One of my favourite of all time is Rufus Wainwright's version of Across the Universe (Beatles). Do you want me to shut up already? ;)
The White Stripes version of 'Maps' by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Ryan Adams's version of 'Wonderwall'
